Smart Systems for Health Agency (SSHA) Captures Three Coveted Communication Awards

April 28, 2008

SSHA’s GET CAUGHT! Privacy and Security Awareness campaign has won a prestigious 2008 Gold Quill Award, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), as well as two IABC Toronto Ovation awards.

SSHA captured:
• a Gold Quill Award of Merit in the Other Graphic Design category;
• an Ovation Award of Excellence for Other Graphic Design; and
• an Ovation Award of Merit for Employee/Member Communications.

IABC’s Gold Quill Awards program has been the hallmark of excellence in business communication for more than 35 years. The 2008 competition drew 1,040 entries from 30 countries (including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, U.K. and the U.S.). Of these, 116 received awards; 41 Awards of Excellence, 73 Awards of Merit and two student awards.

The theme of SSHA’s winning campaign is to ‘GET CAUGHT! Doing the right thing.’ It encouraged staff to practice privacy and security on a daily basis – a responsibility for SSHA as a key player in the growing field of electronic communication of patient information in Ontario.

The program used humour to highlight privacy and security required behaviours. Images of the campaign elements are available at www.ssha.on.ca/privacy/internal_campaign.asp.

Michael Power, Vice-President of Privacy and Security at SSHA, said: “The GET CAUGHT! campaign has been a significant contributor to creating a culture of privacy at SSHA. Protecting privacy is absolutely fundamental to what we do – and everyone needs to practice it all the time. We made a major leap forward with the campaign.”
