Doctors in the small northeastern Ontario town of Iroquois Falls appear to have been double-charging the Health Ministry for the same work for years.

Dr. Mike Boyle, who has worked in Iroquois Falls for 38 years, the last year of it for the FHT, and who retired in late 2010, says the FHT has meant “nothing but bad health and lack of (doctors’) availablity for residents” since it started.

At one point, he told Postmedia News, some doctors were available to patients only eight hours a month at the FHT clinic because of how they were counting — and deducting — their emergency room work.

…the wait time for an appointment is now two months and that FHT has had “no beneficial impact in the emergency department at the local hospitals, since usually in two months one either will have recovered or be dead.”
