Explore this unique opportunity with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services to provide professional nursing care to inmates and staff at the Ontario Correctional Institute. General Practice Manager

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to oversee Bridgepoint Family Health Team’s operations including administration, financial management and personnel management activities. As well, you will establish and implement the day-to-day operational procedures, liaise with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term MOHLTC on administrative issues, preparation of reports on clinic operations, and the organization of community liaison activities.   • Administering the hiring process for the Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and other Family Health Team staff (secretary, records clerk).

Assistant, Associate Professor (Tenure Stream)

The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, is seeking applicants for a tenure-stream position at the level of assistant/associate professor in the area of pharma?coepidemiology or pharmaceutical outcomes research.  Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree and have demonstrated research expertise in an applied field of health outcomes research such as the epidemiology of pharmaceutical use, clinical epide?miology, drug utilization, the sociology of drug use, applied biostatistics or a similar quantitative field.

The successful candidate will teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, establish an independent, externally funded research program, and supervise graduate students.  We are particularly interested in recruiting individuals whose research focuses on one or more of the following areas: outcomes research, determinants and/or outcomes of the use of pharmaceuticals at a population level, patient-reported outcomes, and the development of data synthesis methodologies such as meta-analysis.  However, qualified applicants with other research interests are encouraged to apply.

B.C. HEALTH EDUCATION FOUNDATION

Executive Director

The BC Health Education Foundation (BCHEF) was established in March 2006 as a not for profit society.  Its purpose is to fund enhanced education activities for the British Columbia health care sector.  As it enters its second year of operation, the BCHEF is looking for an experienced, creative, part-time Executive Director to help bring the Board’s strategic vision of the organization to life.

Your initial role will be to develop an operational/implementation plan recommending how the organization can achieve its vision.  Consultations with key stakeholders throughout BC will be required in this initial phase. Viewing the health care system strategically, the plan should address investment decisions based on effective, evidence-informed criteria. The plan should also incorporate implementation steps and recommendations for staffing, financial and communication requirements.

During this transition phase, the current BCHEF administrator will continue to work with the Board on day-to-day issues of operational and financial management, grant program administration and Board meeting arrangements.

It is expected that the successful applicant will have extensive experience in health education as well as leadership experience working with a Board of Directors. The BCHEF Executive Director will be creative, innovative and entrepreneurial and have proven experience in building collaborative relationships. The ability to translate a strategic vision into a successful business plan will be essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete the operational/implementation plan for the organization within three months and begin the process of implementation after that time. This will be a part-time, contract position for an agreed term.  The precise time requirements and remuneration are negotiable.

Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO)

Health Services Researcher

Founded in 1983, POGO is a consortium of the major providers of care to children with cancer and, since 1995, the official advisor to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care on childhood cancer care and control.  Its mandate is to ensure that all of the province’s children with cancer have equal access to state-of-the-art diagnosis, treatment and required ancillary services and have the greatest prospects for survival with an optimal quality of life. POGO maintains a unique, standardized, population-based data holding on pediatric cancer in Ontario, is a 45.1 entity under Ontario’s privacy legislation (PHIPA) and can collect, use and disclose personal health information for designated purposes, greatly expanding its range of cancer control research

POGO currently seeks a full-time Scientist as a member of a multidisciplinary health services research team. Reporting directly to the Medical Director, the incumbent will provide leadership in epidemiology and health services research, lead projects and research-related initiatives with policy and health services implications, analyze and evaluate pediatric cancer data, and conduct epidemiologic surveillance activities. This Scientist will contribute to the knowledge base of pediatric oncology by publishing and presenting research findings and generating independent or team-based grant funding.

Qualifications:

  • MD with epidemiology training or degree, or PhD in epidemiology or related field
  • Knowledge of methods used to organize, analyze and link large health data sets
  • Ability to analyze and interpret significance of medical, health, and other data obtained from variety of sources
  • Understanding or interest in current pediatric cancer disease/condition-specific issues, disease trends/determinants, impact of policies across the health system/sectors
