Measurement and Patterns of Morbidity and the Utilization of Health Services: Some Emerging Issues from Recent Health Interview Surveys in India
Abstract
In this paper, nine recent health interview surveys in India are critically examined in terms of their methodology and findings. Some broad issues related to the empirical measurement of morbidity and its relationship with development are addressed. The relative strengths and weaknesses of different approaches for eliciting information on disease prevalence or burden in a community are discussed. [To view this article, please download the PDF.]
