Abstract
Health Sectors of the developing countries of the South East Asia Region face enormous challenges from rapid globalization, increasing movement of people, and a changing economic scenario that negatively impacts health. The Regional Conference on Public Health in South-East Asia in the 21st Century reviewed the progress in Public Health education, training, practice, and research in the countries of the South-East Asia Region, as well as the lessions from related policies and programs. The Calcutta Declaration on Public Health, adopted on the concluding day at a special session chaired by the Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal, India sets forth strategies and directions for enhancing health development in the South-East Asia Region in the 21st Century.
