Abstract

With a renewed focus on revitalizing and remodeling our healthcare system,"Break Through!"formed the focus of the 78th Annual Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) Convention & Exhibition this past November. More than 7500 delegates and 320 exhibiting companies came together to share information and best practices in healthcare. An impressive list of keynote speakers included: Bernard Kerik, former Commissioner of the New York City Police Department who worked tirelessly to coordinate the rescue efforts at ground zero; Tom Von Essen, former Commissioner of the Fire Department of New York,who was at the epicenter of the remarkable heroics of the New York City firefighters and EMS workers during the September 11th tragedy; Daniele Sauvageau, head coach of the Gold Medal winning 2002 Women's Olympic Hockey Team; Stephen Lewis, former Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations and former Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF; author Dr.Bob Arnot, former NBC Chief Medical Editor and NBC Special Foreign Correspondent (The Best Medicine, and Dr. Bob Arnot's Guide to Turning Back the Clock); Allan Gregg, host of Allan Gregg In Conversation With ... ; Senator Michael J. Delegates were able to preview the latest in healthcare products and services on the exhibition floor and explore innovations in health systems management at the National Best Practices Display.
