Commentary: RAI-MH holds Great Future Promise
Locally, nationally, and internationally, there have been increasing demands upon healthcare professionals to be accountable and efficient, and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the services they provide. While there are healthcare professionals who have traditionally been trained to practice and function in this manner (research based/guided practice), they are in the minority on a larger systemic level. In the mental health domain, the Resident Assessment Instrument - Mental Health (RAI-MH) as described by Dr. Hirdes et al. holds great promise in assisting individual professionals, administrators and organizations to fulfill the mandate of providing improved services.
