Matching patients to their health records and healthcare providers has new importance as nations acquire electronic health records (EHRs) and define strategies for enhancing healthcare delivery. Silos of data is being broken down and integrated health systems built to improve access to care and patient safety, while minimizing redundancy and striving for cost-effectiveness. Ensuring data integrity and protecting the privacy of health records are fundamental to the success of these programs.
