In terms of per capita expenditures, among 25 member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) that have comparable accounting systems, spending per person on healthcare in 2006 was highest in the United States ($6,714) followed by Norway ($4,250). For comparison, the per capita healthcare expenditure in Canada was $3,678, about half that of the United States.
