The six commentaries provide a broad range of perspective in response to our paper. All provide additional insights on the challenges of applying a value-for-money lens to healthcare, and helped to push our own thinking along. With limited (though important) exception, all were also generally uncritical of our piece. There were some disagreements, such as questioning whether and how to engage the public (Martin), but no fundamental difference of opinion with either our diagnosis or proposed direction. If anything, we were criticized for not going far enough, for not providing a functional road map that could be picked up and followed.
