Abstract
Across Canada, the long-term care sector has received increased attention since the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many have argued that the effects of the pandemic were amplified because of long-standing shortfalls, including funding, staffing and infrastructure. This issue brings together a set of commentaries from Canadian thought leaders who propose ideas and strategies for how to transform long-term care so that it becomes a place where vulnerable people are safe and receive the care they need.
