Change Day Ontario Launches in Communities Across Ontario
TORONTO, ON (September 13, 2018) - Today, Change Day Ontario launches in communities across the province. Change Day Ontario is a grassroots healthcare movement designed to empower people within the healthcare system to make positive changes through making pledges and taking actions, big or small, to improve compassionate quality care. "A culture of quality in our health care system can happen when everyone participates in the process of improvement" says Dr. Joshua Tepper, President and Chief Executive Officer, Health Quality Ontario. "Change Day Ontario is a chance to remind ourselves that we can all make a difference through acts of change, big and small."
From now until November 22nd, anyone engaged within, or touched by, the health care system is invited to participate by making a pledge. Pledges have a positive impact, not just on the people who participate, but on the system as a whole. The initiative is a chance to remind people within the healthcare system that we can all make a difference, every little action counts, and we can collectively build a culture of quality care.
“Last year the initiative saw great success with over 6,000 pledges. They ranged anywhere from spending the day in a wheelchair to better understand patient experience, to introducing yourself to every patient at the beginning of your relationship with them,” says Gail Paech, AMS Healthcare CEO. “The significant response we had from participants last year demonstrates that individuals are interested and dedicated to making positive changes and improving compassionate quality care.”
Originating in the UK, Change Day has now spread to many countries; most recently to Canada in Ontario. Change Day was launched for the first time in Ontario in 2017 and has returned for another year in 2018 due to its great success. To date, over 40 organizations from across the province have joined Change Day Ontario and the movement continues to grow!
