Walter Wodchis, Professor, University of Toronto, Research Chair in Implementation and Evaluation Sciences, Institute for Better Health
Walter Wodchis, PhD, is Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, Research Chair in Implementation and Evaluation Science and Senior Scientist at the Institute for Better Health (IBH), Trillium Health Partners, and Senior Adjunct Scientist at ICES. He is also co-lead for the International Foundation for Integrated care (IFIC) Canada. An internationally recognized scientist in health economics, financing, health care policy evaluation and integrated care, Walter is leading research to understand and improve health system integration and performance.
Through his research programs which include more than 30 collaborating researchers and as many trainees, Walter has developed research to understand the needs and care trajectories for individuals with high care costs and complex health needs, particularly those with multiple chronic conditions. He has led multiple local, national and international research programs to understand the implementation of integrated care programs to address those needs. At IBH, Walter is working to advance a Learning Health System. As principal investigator for the Health System Performance Network (HSPN), he also leads a team of scientists and trainees responsible for provincial evaluations of integrated care programs in Ontario.
Building on a recent 5-year international study on implementing integrated Care Of Adults with Complex Health needs (iCOACH), Walter and a national research team were awarded a three-year, three-province grant to study the development of interprofessional team-based primary health care in January 2022. Past significant publications include quality of life measurement for older populations, incentives and government payment for physicians and long-term care including pay for performance, and the relationship between quality and cost.
He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics (Waterloo), Master’s in both Gerontology (Waterloo) and Economics (Michigan) and earned his doctorate in Health Services Organization and Policy (Health Economics) at the University of Michigan.

Jodeme’s passion is convening opportunities, building the capabilities, and inspiring those in health and social systems to work together to realize the potential of the collective. Jodeme serves as a catalyst to support large scale human transformative change and ensures change opportunities are co-designed. Listening to and building the relational foundations along with citizens, patients, caregivers, and those that work in health and social care is the key to creating the cultures that enable health creating, high performing integrated healthcare system.
Jodeme brings over 25 years of experience and collaborates locally and internationally and is highly skilled in the most emergent methods for building and sustaining culture and capabilities to support human centered transformation within health and social care systems.
Jodeme is a systems level leadership coach, breakthrough facilitator, and recipient of the National Catalyst for Change Award from the Universal Women’s Network and The National Chambers of Commerce, recognized as one of the top 10 women changing healthcare in Canada from Patient Commando and the two time recipient of the Ontario’s Ministers of Health Medal Honoring Quality and Safety for her work in integrated care.
Opening Keynote Speaker:
Adalsteinn Brown, Dean, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto
Professor Adalsteinn (Steini) Brown was appointed Dean of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) beginning July 2018 after serving as Interim Dean. He previously served as Director of the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation (IHPME) and the Dalla Lana Chair of Public Health Policy also at the University.
Steini’s research interests relate to performance measurement in health systems and the use of evidence and data in public policy. He has published numerous articles on evidence-informed policy making, healthcare quality improvement, and health systems strategy. Steini has worked closely with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care (MOHLTC) and other government and international agencies and has served as Assistant Deputy Minister in MOHLTC and Assistant Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Research and Innovation.
He received his undergraduate degree in government from Harvard University and his doctorate from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Steini is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

Rhonda McMichael, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Partnerships Division, Ontario Ministry of Health
Rhonda is the ADM of Strategic Partnerships at the Ministry of Health, overseeing Ontario Health Teams, Home and Community Care, Ontario Health Oversight and the ministry’s Project Management Office. Prior to her current role, Rhonda was ADM of Population Health Initiatives, working as part of the core Health leadership team on pandemic response. This included leading case and contact management strategy and operations, outbreak planning and response, and the High Priority Communities Strategy, supporting neighborhoods most impacted by COVID-19.
With broad experience in strategic planning, policy and program leadership, marketing and communications, Rhonda served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Communications in the Ontario Government’s Cabinet Office for close to a decade; as Vice President of Communications and Corporate Affairs at the Ontario Cannabis Store; and in roles at the University of Toronto. She is currently a Senior Fellow at U of T’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.

Brian Golden, Sandra Rotman Chair in Health Sector Strategy, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto
Brian is founding Academic Director of Rotman’s Global Executive MBA in Healthcare and The Life Sciences. He previously served as Board Chair of the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES).
Brian has worked with a variety of organizations including Ontario’s Ministry of Health; several Medical Associations in Canada, Britain’s National Health Service, and numerous hospitals across Canada.
He is a recipient of the Ted Freedman Innovation in Healthcare Education Award and in 2016 was made a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

Dr. Andrew Bond, Executive Medical Officer, Inner City Health Associates
Andrew is the Co-Executive Director and Medical Director of Inner City Health Associates (ICHA) in Toronto, a regionally distributed community health organization delivering specialized tech-enabled integrated care to drive population health for socially and medically complex communities. He leads ICHA's clinical innovation and scaling strategies, care delivery model development and quality of care, and oversees its 10 clinical division Directors.
Andrew is an Executive Advisory Committee Member for the Mid-West Toronto Ontario Health Team, a member of the inaugural National Health Fellows at McMaster University, a member of Ontario's expert panel establishing guidelines for virtual primary care, and has served as a policy group member of the Royal Society of Canada during COVID. He completed his undergraduate training at Queen's, his MD at the University of Ottawa, Family Medicine training at the University of Toronto, an MHA at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy in Saskatchewan and is currently completing an MBA at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Leslee Thompson, CEO, Health Standards Organization and Accreditation Canada
Leslee is the driving force behind the People Powered Health movement ignited by Accreditation Canada and the newly created Health Standards Organization (HSO). After her appointment as CEO in 2016, she led a 12-month global consultation and business design process, and now Leslee and her team are unleashing the power and potential of people around the world who share their passion for achieving quality health services for all.
Armed with 25 years of senior executive and corporate director experience that spans multiple geographies and sectors including heathcare, medical technology, government and retail, Leslee is a leader who makes things happen. Her clinical roots as a Registered Nurse continue to influence her relentless pursuit of quality and safety in healthcare, and Leslee has become internationally recognized for her work on partnering with patients to improve outcomes.
Having successfully led many organizations and systems through tough periods of change, including the high-profile turnaround of a major teaching hospital where she was CEO, Leslee is frequently asked to speak, write, and serve on influential boards and panels. She has been Board Chair of the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement, Chair of Council of Academic Hospitals Ontario, Assistant Professor at Queen’s University and a member of Ontario Health Innovation Council to name a few.
Case studies and articles have been written about her leadership and Leslee has received numerous awards and honors including being named as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women. Today, she is an active volunteer on the Daughters for Life Foundation Board which is dedicated to the belief that if you educate a girl you can change the world.
All of this makes Leslee the right leader at the right time for HSO and AC – two organizations on the move building global healthcare standards and innovative assessment programs so that people in their own jurisdictions can save and improve lives.

John Yip, President and CEO, SE Health
John is a transformative, values-based leader with a strong commitment to community advancement, he is evolving SE Health’s vision to forever impact how people live and age at home through its business of caring, social impact, and strategic investments. Prior to joining SE Health, John held various roles including President and CEO at Kensington Health and Vice President of Corporate Services at Health Quality Ontario. He also ran his own boutique management consulting firm focused on integrated care models for vulnerable and under-served populations; and worked with clients across the healthcare continuum as a consultant with the national healthcare and life science practices at KPMG, PWC and CGI.
John holds an MBA in Health Services Management from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University and undergraduate degrees in arts and sciences from Dalhousie University. John is a member of the Institute for Corporate Directors and currently serves on a variety of boards including HealthcareCAN, Regional Geriatric Program of Toronto, the Centre for Effective Practice and Triathlon Canada.

Kim Baker, MHSc., C.Dir., CHE, President and CEO, Salus Global
Kim is a health system leader whose career focus has been on transformative initiatives and human connections. She complements her health system knowledge with governance experience having served on boards in healthcare, insurance, and education.
Currently she serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Salus Global, a Canadian healthcare consulting firm rooted in the quality and safety of care. She oversees an organization dedicated to providing customized solutions for hospital teams – helping them go from teams of experts into expert teams. Most recognized for their moreOB program, Salus Global has worked with over 300 hospitals, and engaged with over 16,000 healthcare professionals coast-to-coast.
Prior to this role, she led the largest regional system in Ontario with 1.9 million residents and a system budget of $2 billion that included operational oversight for home and community care.

Michael Sherar, President and CEO, Public Health Ontario
Michael Sherar leads Public Health Ontario, the provincial agency that provides evidence to inform policy, undertakes public health capacity building, and provides integrated public health laboratory and surveillance systems.
Prior to joining PHO, Michael held several senior management positions in the public sector. He was previously the interim Transitional Lead and Chief Corporate Officer for the Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation (TSHC), where he led planning for TSHC to assume operating responsibility for seniors’ social housing buildings from the Toronto Community Housing Corporation. Prior to TSHC, Michael spent 17 years at Cancer Care Ontario (CCO), nine of which as President and CEO. He led the expansion of CCO’s mandate, built an effective infrastructure to support health system improvement in Ontario and led the smooth transition of CCO to become a division of Ontario Health.
Michael received his doctorate in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from Oxford University.

Anne is a senior healthcare executive with more than 20 years of experience leading change in the community. She is passionate about building healthier more inclusive communities. Her expertise spans systems strategy, integrated care, policy, governance, quality improvement, and performance. She is also the Co-Editor-in-Chief for Healthcare Quarterly, Canada's leading journal for healthcare leadership.
Anne is an Adjunct Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto where she teaches in both the Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation (IHPME) and Doctor of Public Health program. She has a Doctorate in Public Health (Health Leadership) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Health Science (Health Administration) from the University of Toronto.
Melissa McCallum, Executive Director, Greater Hamilton Health Network
Melissa is the first Executive Director of the Greater Hamilton Health Network, notable for being one of the first Ontario Health Teams. As a master’s prepared registered nurse with 16 years of leadership experience in healthcare, Melissa’s approach to her role is also informed by her skills acquired as a front-line emergency nurse, health system planner and through her clinical assistant professor duties at McMaster University. Melissa is driven by her passion for working with partners to create an integrated, equitable health system across sectors.
Georgina Black, Growth Officer, Canadian Managing Partner, Government and Public Services, Deloitte
Georgina Black is managing partner, Government & Public Services for Deloitte Canada where she leads a team of professionals committed to making Canada better.
Georgina is a member of Deloitte’s global Executive for Government & Healthcare and also serves on the global COVID command table focused on capturing and sharing leading practices across jurisdictions. She has over 25 years’ experience as a consultant, business leader, entrepreneur and volunteer.

Dr. Paul Woods, President and CEO, Southlake Hospital
Paul is a senior healthcare leader with a wide range of clinical and executive experience in both Canada and the United States, highly regarded for his proven ability to lead positive change in complex environments. Prior to joining Southlake, he served as the President & CEO of London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), one of Canada’s leading academic hospitals, where he led the organization to achieve Exemplary Standing with Accreditation Canada for the first time in 12 years. Under his leadership, LHSC opened Ontario’s first publicly owned ambulatory surgery centre, as well as an Office of Health Equity through a new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategy.
While working state-side as Senior Vice President at the not-for-profit system Trinity Health in Michigan, Paul led strategies that improved quality of care as well as enhanced patient and provider experience. Through strong engagement with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians, he implemented successful initiatives at Trinity to serve more patients and improve health outcomes while promoting sustainability.
Paul has also held various other leadership roles in the health system including at Alberta Health Services, the University of Calgary’s Department of Family Medicine, and the Michigan Center for Clinical Systems Improvement.
His insights have been sought through Board appointments, most recently as President of the Board of Directors for Trinity Health Coordinated Care, a four state Accountable Care Organization. He has also served as a Board member of Chicago Mercy Hospital, the first chartered hospital in Chicago which focuses on serving disadvantaged populations.
A father of four adult children, Paul is married to Dr. Kristen Woods, a physician executive and business coach. He enjoys staying active with his two German Shepherds, cycling, playing hockey and golf.
Anne Corbett, General Counsel and Executive Lead, Legal and Risk, Ontario Health
Anne Corbett is the General Counsel and Executive Lead Legal, Risk and Governance at Ontario Health. Prior to joining Ontario Health she was a partner with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP where she practiced health law and corporate law with a special emphasis on corporate governance and health system integrations. She has been the team lead in many health sector amalgamations, integrations, joint ventures, restructurings and governance reviews. A frequent speaker and author on topics related to health system integrations, governance and accountability, she is a co-author of the Guide to Good Governance for Hospitals and the Guide to Good Governance for Charities and Not-for-Profit Organizations, both publications of the Ontario Hospital Association.

Rick Glazier, Senior Core Scientist, Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES)
Dr. Rick Glazier is a senior core scientist at ICES and a staff family physician at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and a scientist in its Centre for Urban Health Solutions as well as a professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, and Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
His research interests include evaluating health system transformation, primary care health services delivery models, health of disadvantaged populations, management of chronic conditions, and population-based and geographic methods for improving equity in health.
Rick has been involved in a number of research projects including those investigating how to best deliver primary healthcare services, optimizing healthcare for refugees, improving cancer prevention in deprived neighbourhoods, and advancing health and wellbeing in urban neighbourhoods.
He is the author of more than 260 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been named one of the top 20 pioneers in family medicine research by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Rosalie Wyonch, Senior Policy Analyst, C.D. Howe Institute
Rosalie leads the C.D. Howe Institute's Health Policy Council and Research Initiative. Her research focuses on policy issues affecting healthcare in Canada. She also researches the implications of technology and innovation on all parts of the economy and has written on the topic from an international, human capital, fiscal and tax perspective. Prior to joining the C.D. Howe Institute, Rosalie worked at the Ontario Ministry of Finance in the Office of Economic Policy. She has a Master of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Mathematical Economics from the University of Waterloo.
Rosalie also participates in numerous advisory groups and committees. She is a member of the Canadian Institute for Health Information’s National Health Expenditure Advisory Group and the Healthcare Excellence Canada Policy Circle (2020-21). She also volunteers as a Board Member for University Settlements Toronto, a charity providing settlement services and programming for youth and seniors.

Aaron Berk has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of roles within Healthcare and Life Sciences and has supported clients in multiple jurisdictions across the Globe. His clinical and healthcare management experience brings industry depth to help clients with some of their most pressing needs.
