Building on e-Health Investments to Transform & Sustain the System

Vancouver, BC – Charting with voice recognition on Smartphones…Making a provincial drug information system work…
Bringing patient care to the home with telenurses…

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE WITH THE DOLLARS INVESTED TO DATE? The e-Health 2010:From Investment to Impact program draws on a multitude of real Canadian achievements throughout 85+ hours of education to provide practical, take-away experience, lessons learned and a better understanding of the remaining “must-dos” to realize the full potential of e-Health to meet the growing demands on healthcare in this country.

“The Canadian healthcare system is considered by most Canadians as a true national treasure, and for the most part, it has a sterling international reputation,” said keynote speaker Peter Mansbridge, Chief Correspondent of the CBC.“However there are continuing challenges. One of them is the progress in applying e-Health to deliver real benefit to the country every day. Canadians have high expectations for the care of their health and are asking, ‘Are we moving fast enough?” and ‘Are the strides in reducing prescription errors, improving chronic disease management or delivering care in isolated communities, impressive enough?’

I’m pleased to be part of this vital national conference that will tackle some of these questions, and in the process, perhaps help build Canada’s capacity and readiness for using information technologies that are at the heart of both improving and sustaining the healthcare system for generations to come.”

As Canada’s largest e-Health education, trade show and networking event with Canada’s only Interoperability Showcase, e-Health 2010 offers 63 hours of concurrent sessions in panel, round table and related formats. These sessions are packed with information about:

  • Building Readiness for Adoption
  • Telehealth
  • Strategies to Address e-Health Capacity
  • Patient/Provider/System Impact and Outcomes Achieved
  • School of Hard Knocks
  • New Models of Care for Health Public Engagement
  • Patient Self-Management
  • How to Do Benefits Realization
  • Interdisciplinary Care
  • Measuring and Accelerating Adoption

Other educational opportunities include:

  • pre-conference workshops;
  • keynote and plenary sessions;
  • Canadian Telehealth Forum meetings
  • CPHIMS-CA Exams (register by May 12) and Review Course.

In support of this extensive education program and to aid delegates plan their schedule, e-Health 2010 is providing a new Personalized Itinerary Builder that can be linked to an Outlook Calendar.

Like the breadth of Canadian healthcare professionals involved in informatics, the e-Health conference community is also growing with representation from clinicians, frontline staff, the information systems team, vendors and consultants, CIOs and other “C” suite leaders, government leaders, and everyone involved in taking e-Health and HI mainstream in Canada.  As such, this conference is making valuable contributions to healthcare and will build capacity among the entire healthcare community to use their e-Health investments effectively to transform, sustain and serve!

With Peter Mansbridge and his “At Issue Panel”, an almost sold-out Exhibit Floor and registrations already exceeding expectations, this conference promises to be a valuable education and networking experience for everyone in the healthcare community.
