OTTAWA, July 25, 2011 /CNW/ - The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) is pleased to host the 2011 Media Awards for Health Reporting and is now inviting entries.

The CMA is proud to honour outstanding Canadian journalism that enhances understanding of health, the health system and the role of health professionals.

Each entry will be judged by a selection committee composed of professionals from across Canada representing the medical, health-sector and journalism fields.

Reporters may submit their entries in the following award categories:

• Excellence in Print Reporting (newspaper or magazine)
  • In-depth feature series
  • In-depth feature article (Michelle Lang Award)
  • News
• Excellence in Radio Reporting
  • News
  • In-depth
• Excellence in Television Reporting
  • News
  • In-depth
• Excellence in Local Reporting
  • Print
  • Broadcast

To be considered, stories must have been printed or broadcast between July 26, 2010, and August 3, 2011, inclusive. Entries must be received by August 8, 2011.

The awards will be presented at a gala event on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at the Château Laurier in Ottawa.
