Medbuy welcomes strategically focused and experienced leader as new President & CEO

(London, Ontario): Medbuy’s Board Chair, Sue Denomy, was pleased to announce yesterday the selection of Kent Nicholson as the new President & CEO of Medbuy Corporation. Mr. Nicholson, a senior executive with more than two decades of experience leading organizations to increased market share, productivity and customer satisfaction, will assume the role currently held by Interim CEO, Tony Dagnone, effective October 11.

“The selection committee of the Board considered many qualified candidates from across the country,” notes Denomy. “Kent has the right blend of experience and a 20-year track record of leadership in the healthcare industry as well as several well-known private sector companies, His most recent service, as an executive with a major Canadian diagnostic services company, has given him the perspective of a service provider in the healthcare sector and the know-how to work within provincial health mandates.”

As Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of CML Healthcare, a leading community-based health services provider of laboratory testing and medical imaging, Mr. Nicholson provided leadership for three primary business units that had consolidated revenue of nearly $500 million. His portfolio included a broad range of responsibilities, including marketing and sales, information technology, lab services, medical imaging services and supply chain.

With a career based in engineering, Mr. Nicholson has also held progressive senior management positions with Imperial Oil Ltd. and Canadian Tire Corporation, where he oversaw the growth of the national retailer’s gasoline retail division. His industry service includes a term as chair of the Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories.

“I am very much looking forward to joining the Medbuy team as we focus on what we do best – driving Member savings and supporting quality care in our health system,” Nicholson says. “Tony is a respected leader who has provided strong guidance for Medbuy over the last five months. I’m thrilled to join one of the strongest teams in the industry because I’m convinced that through great relationships, customer-focused business processes and tangible results, Medbuy will be the preferred strategic sourcing partner in Canada’s public health sector.”

“Kent is a thoughtful and engaging leader,” adds Denomy. “He understands the challenges in the healthcare system and will approach his role with a rigorous process and commitment to key performance metrics. All of these attributes, together, make him the ideal leader to take Medbuy to a higher level of service – where our Members, staff, suppliers and other key stakeholders expect us to be.”

Over the coming weeks, Mr. Nicholson will be focused on Medbuy’s efforts to enhance relationships with and demonstrate our value proposition to stakeholders.
