Collaborative for Hospital Excellence, Canada Joins Verras Healthcare International; Changes Name to Verras Canada

Toronto, ON – Jan. 20, 2012 – The Collaborative for Hospital Excellence, Canada Ltd. has joined Verras Healthcare International, a global association of firms creating a culture of clinical excellence, Fran Brunelle, Founder and President, announced.  The firm will be renamed Verras Canada Ltd.

Verras Canada has two areas of expertise: reducing clinical variation to improve quality of patient care, and leadership development.

“We are delighted to have Verras Canada be part of our association,” said John Malone, President of Verras Healthcare International.  “Fran Brunelle is a recognized leader in Canadian healthcare.  The combination of our healthcare informatics and the expertise of Fran and his team of Trusted Advisors will assist Canadian hospitals in enhancing the patient experience by improving quality, reducing costs and increasing program capacity.

Verras Canada’s proprietary informatics and support reduce clinical variation by first using analytics to identify opportunities by physician and by risk adjusted homogeneous ICD patient groups.  That is followed by facilitating implementation of those opportunities through confidential and non-judgmental discussions with physicians.

“There is truly no other analytical tool available to Canadian hospitals that can help hospitals and physicians like this,” Mr. Brunelle said.  “This is how you achieve real change and sustainable quality of care improvement

Fran Brunelle noted that Verras’ suite of healthcare informatics have been used successfully to reduce clinical variation in the United States for more than 30 years, and that a rigorous proof of concept was completed in Canada in 2011

Additionally, Canadian hospitals will now have access to “a group of almost two dozen Trusted Advisors from both the United States and Canada that will provide seamless service to our clients,” Mr. Brunelle said

Verras Canada also will continue to offer leadership development services.  “These services assist physicians in their transitional journeys from pure clinical and teaching responsibilities into leadership responsibilities,” Mr. Brunelle said.  He added that Verras Canada utilizes a combination of proven tools and approaches to customize the most appropriate program for healthcare executives and physicians

About Verras Canada Ltd

Verras Canada is the only company in Canada that helps hospitals reduce clinical variation and costs by both identifying individual physician best practices at a granular level, and then facilitating physician-directed implementation of those practices by working one on one with physicians in a collaborative, confidential process.  Verras Canada also provides leadership development to healthcare executives and physicians, utilizing a variety of evidence-based, proven assessment and development tools and case scenarios.  More information is available at www.verrascanada.com
