Consortium to Release Report on Transforming Postgraduate Medical Education

OTTAWA, March 28, 2012 /CNW/ - On Thursday, March 29, 2012, a report will be released containing ten recommendations for transforming postgraduate medical education in Canada. According to Dr. Nick Busing, President and CEO of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada, "the recommendations contained in this report will ensure that the next generation of physicians are able to meet the ever-changing needs of Canadians and that they have the skills and competencies to practice medicine in the healthcare system of tomorrow."

The report is the culmination of the second phase of the Future of Medical Education in Canada project, funded by Health Canada, which was jointly undertaken over the past two years by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), le Collège des médecins du Québec, the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, with the AFMC serving as Secretariat.

The FMEC PG National Launch will be a Canada-wide event with a central location in Montreal linking to faculties of medicine and other stakeholder sites across the country via webcast.
