Dr. Michael Guerriere appointed Chief Medical Officer for TELUS Health Solutions

Respected health industry strategist to apply clinical expertise and perspective for TELUS clients

Montreal, PQ, May 30, 2011 – TELUS Health Solutions today announced the appointment of Michael Guerriere as the company’s first Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Guerriere assumes this new responsibility in addition to his current role of vice-president, Professional Services, a strategic consulting group focused on working with healthcare organizations to accelerate and achieve their transformation goals.

”It is a privilege to have this opportunity to work with such a talented team of health information professionals,” said Dr. Guerriere. “The initiatives we have planned at TELUS will make an enormous difference for patients and their families. I’m very excited to be part of that agenda.”

In his new role Dr. Guerriere will work with clinical professionals to incorporate powerful new tools making their way into clinical practice. “Information technology is making possible dramatic improvements in care delivery. Achieving those improvements will require some major changes in the way we provide care to patients,” he said.

Dr. Guerriere will leverage his extensive expertise across the continuum of care to develop strategies that will drive clinical improvement initiatives for providers and payors. “The appointment of Dr. Guerriere to CMO recognizes his specialized expertise and leadership in clinical care and healthcare transformation in Canada,” said Paul Lepage, senior vice-president of TELUS Health Solutions. “He will work closely with clinicians to unlock the substantial clinical value contained in their systems and databases and to make that data securely accessible anytime, anywhere and on any device.”

Dr. Guerriere has worked with leading health care organizations on information management, clinical change, quality improvement and health care operations management initiatives. He has leveraged his extensive experience in clinical, technical and business settings to help leading health organizations achieve their goals and improve care for patients. He has also consulted for governments on health policy and strategy, particularly in the areas of hospital funding and integration of care delivery.
