Alan Torrie, Chair of the Board of The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre, announced the appointment of Dr. Dante Morra as the new Chief of Medical Staff effective February 1, 2013.

“Dr. Morra is known as both an innovative thinker and a compassionate physician. His internationally recognized research focuses on system innovation to create the best possible patient outcomes through sustainable models of health care delivery,” said Mr. Torrie. “His practical research will not only enable the Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre to continue its high quality delivery but also help foster the Hospital’s position as a leader in health system innovation.”

“Dr. Morra is an award winning, internationally recognized clinician who brings a wealth of experience in reducing wait times for patients while ensuring the highest quality of care,” said Ms. DiEmanuele, President and CEO of the Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre. “He is a system leader with significant experience in integration and operational improvement and has been nationally recognized for his work in quality improvement. His expertise in change management and operations will help us to improve the patient experience for our community.”

Dr. Morra is a specialist in internal medicine and also holds a Masters of Business Administration. He is currently assistant professor in the School of Medicine at University of Toronto, Adjunct Professor at Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and Associate Director of the Centre for Inter-professional Education in Toronto. Dr. Morra was most recently the Co-Founder and Medical Director of the Centre for Innovation in Complex Care: University Health Network.

“Dr. Morra’s proven track record of innovation, evident through his work with the University of Toronto’s medical school, will be a huge asset to the Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre as they continue to establish the University of Toronto Mississauga Medical Academy as a centre of excellence for medical education.” said Dr. Catharine Whiteside, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to be joining an organization that has such an outstanding reputation for excellent quality patient care.  I feel very strongly about the potential for The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre to define a new kind of health care and play a strong leadership role in bringing innovation to the health care system as a whole,” said Dr. Morra. “I’m looking forward with great excitement and optimism to a long future with the hospital --pioneering new models of education and quality health care delivery for the communities of Mississauga and West Toronto.”

“On behalf of patients, the staff, physicians and volunteers of the hospital and the communities of Mississauga and West Toronto, I would like to recognize Dr. Matt Gysler and Dr. Gopal Bhatnagar.
