Tom W. Noseworthy, John A. McAllister and Dan Bader
Abstract
Alberta Wellnet, a provincial health information sharing and exchange initiative, is one key element in Alberta's provincial response to a national strategy for integrated health infostructures. It recognizes that integrated systems for health services delivery depend heavily on integrated health infostructures. This article describes the environment leading to the creation and context of alberta wellnet, and analyzes its operation, activities and successes to date as a contribution towards an integrated health information system for Alberta and, ultimately, Canada.
