Development of an Integrated Information System for Ontario's Community Care Access Centres
Abstract
Throughout Ontario, an integrated information system is now being developed to assist community care access centres to use technology to manage and operate their business, thus providing better care and more efficient services to their clients. This project, funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and managed by the governance council of Community Care Connects, involves designing and implementing an integrated management system. It will be operated on a common technology platform targeted to the internal and external information requirements of community care access centres . A major objective of the council throughout the development of this system is to keep the central focus on the client.
This article outlines the phases of the project already completed, those currently underway and the next steps planned, as well as the expected results and the lessons learned.
