Only 38% of "personal-digital-assistant toting" physicians surveyed via an instant online poll by Epocrates expect a meaningful boost in electronic medical record usage in the next two years. Forty-six percent doubted there would be any significant action in implementing EMRs and other medical technology to help reduce costs and medical errors, and 16% had no opinion. Epocrates took its "unscientific poll" after the State of the Union address in which the President linked EMR use to needed improvements in care.
