Abstract

At St. Clair Health Hospital, VeriScan software running on HP iPAQ hx2490 Pocket PCs is improving the quality of care for patients while decreasing the cost of health care operations. Nurses at the hospital use the VeriScan medication administration verification system to scan bar-coded medication labels and RFID tagged patient wristbands to be sure they have the correct patient, medication, time, dose and route each time medication is administered.
