The Impact of Diagnostic Imaging Investments on the Canadian Healthcare System
Simon Hagens, David Kwan, Craig Savage and Mark Nenadovic
Abstract
This article describes the value of, and benefits to, Canada's healthcare system that have resulted from Canada Health Infoway's investment in diagnostic imaging (DI) system projects across the country. Infoway has facilitated a joint procurement process for jurisdictions, helped to establish the viability of irreversible compression technology in DI and supported benefit evaluation activities measuring the impact DI of systems on healthcare access, quality and productivity. The positive effects of Infoway's DI system program are encouraging and demonstrate the transformative potential of electronic health record investments.

Great to see this work guys.
Clear and tangible benefits for Canadians. Now when do we start capturing some of the productivity gains and lower the fees we are paying for reading images? Sustainability should mean that we capture the productivity improvements in the form of lower costs not higher salaries.
Again, great work.
