Simon Hagens, David Kwan, Craig Savage and Mark Nenadovic
Abstract
[This article was originally published in ElectronicHealthcare, Volume 7, Number 4.]This article describes the value of, and benefits to, Canada's healthcare system that have resulted from Canada Health Infoway's investment in diagnostic imaging (DI) system projects across the country. Infoway has facilitated a joint procurement process for jurisdictions, helped to establish the viability of irreversible compression technology in DI and supported benefit evaluation activities measuring the impact DI of systems on healthcare access, quality and productivity. The positive effects of Infoway's DI system program are encouraging and demonstrate the transformative potential of electronic health record investments.
