Board compensation in the Canadian broader public sector presents a unique challenge for stakeholders. Organizations must ensure that the level of compensation for directors is aligned to an organization’s size and complexity in order to motivate performance while being fair. Fulfilling all of these requirements can be more of an art than a science. As well, the body that determines the compensation practices for the organization can have a significant impact on director compensation levels and how that compensation is provided.
The webinar provides a summary of current Board compensation practices in the Canadian broader public sector and will include the following:
- Board structure
- Compensation determination
- Board compensation practices, including:
- Retainers and meeting fees
- Committee chair and member additional compensation
- Teleconference fees
- Per meeting and per diem fees
- Compensation levels for Board chairs and directors
