Fewer than 5% of consumers said they went to a hospital's website to find out more information about the facility when selecting a hospital for a medical procedure, according to a survey by Forrester Research.
About 3% of respondents said they checked their health insurer's website for more information about the hospital, and about 1% said the went online for third-party information about the hospital's quality and patient satisfaction ratings.
Fewer than 1% of respondents said they used an online hospital comparison tool to either check the quality of multiple hospitals or compare the cost of multiple hospitals, according to the survey.
Results are from a 2005 survey of U.S. consumers who have
received scheduled medical care at a hospital over the past five
years.
