Physicians age 55 and older are less likely than physicians younger than 54 to use IT for clinical data exchange, according to a survey by the Center for Studying Health System Change.

About 52% of U.S. physicians under age 35 surveyed between 2004 and 2005 used IT for clinical data exchange, up from 43% between 2000 and 2001. Of the physicians ages 35 to 54-years-old surveyed between 2004 and 2005, 53% used IT for clinical data exchange, compared with 42% between 2000 and 2001. Forty-three percent of physicians surveyed between 2004 and 2005 ages 55 and older used IT for clinical data, up from 34% between 2000 and 2001.
