Between 2001-2002 and 2004-2005, gross fee-for-service payments
to physicians increased by 12.4 per cent, reaching $10.1 billion in
2004, according to a new report released by the Canadian Institute
for Health Information (CIHI). During the same four-year period,
the total number of services by physicians provided increased by
1.8 per cent. In 2004-2005, Canadian physicians delivered 245
million services that were paid on a fee-for-service basis.
