FACTS AND STATS

Cisco Survey of Hospital Nurses Highlights Impact of Communications Challenges in Hospitals:

- Nurses spend twice the amount of time chasing other people to get answers as they do locating other resources - wasting as much as two hours a shift.

- About 60 percent of nurses in the study estimate that they work up to 10 hours of overtime each week due to time wasted or lost trying to communicate with staff.

- Of the nurses surveyed, 91 percent indicated they would like a single communications device to meet their needs, but only 49 percent report actually using a single device. Another 27 percent note using two or more devices during a typical shift.
