On July 1st, 2009, all hospitals across Ontario will begin using a standardized Provincial Alternate Level of Care (ALC) Definition to designate patients as ALC. A variety of activities have been organized to support the adoption of the definition, the first of which are:
  • May 11th, 2009 - Distribution of Clinician Adoption Toolkit to acute and post-acute hospitals via ALC Hospital Site Leads
  • May 20th, 2009 - Interactive Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) videoconference and live webcast. If you wish to participate in the live webcast event, please register online through OHA - There is no cost to participate in this event.

Scarcity of Health Human Resources: A Chronic National Disease

If one looks at the past and present concerns about health human resources in the country, it seems that the health human resource question might be characterized as a chronic national, now international, disease. As a disease, it causes much stress and attendant fatigue, and when there are acute exacerbations it debilitates our healthcare system.
