Abstract
Global health issues know no boundaries. COVID-19 has brought into greater focus the need for increased global cooperation while ensuring that no country or population group is left behind. To build forward from this pandemic, resilient and sustainable solutions are needed. These solutions must also centre equity and contribute to dismantling the oppressive systems that further perpetuate social, racial and health inequities. I argue that facilitative leadership from a country such as Canada can fill a “political vacuum.” In doing so, however, Canada could better leverage initiatives such as global goals and strengthen its global health diplomacy capacity.
