Jane Merkley announced as Sinai Health System’s Chief Operating Officer

Executive Vice-President Jane Merkley, has taken on an expanded role and portfolio as Executive Vice President, Chief Nurse Executive and Chief Operating Officer. Jane has been the organization’s EVP, Patient Services and Quality, and Chief Nurse Executive since the formation of Sinai Health System in 2015, and the expanded COO role will further support the organization’s commitment to high quality, safe patient care

“I am delighted to partner with such an exceptional clinical leader who has an incredible track record and an exciting vision for Sinai Health System,” says Dr. Gary Newton, Sinai Health System President and CEO. “Her leadership and vision helped pave the way for the successful amalgamation of Mount Sinai and Bridgepoint and our transformation to an integrated health system.”

Jane has more than three decades of experience that spans clinical, administrative, executive and professional practice roles, all focused on delivering the highest quality patient care. Her clinical specialization in Neuroscience Nursing led her to St. Michael’s Hospital where she advanced through several roles including Clinical Leader and Manager for the Trauma and Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit and Director of Nursing Practice and Education. Jane joined Bridgepoint in 2007 and as Vice President, Programs, Services & Professional Affairs and Chief Nurse Executive she was instrumental in preparing the organization, clinically and operationally, for its transformative move to the new Bridgepoint campus.

In this new role, Jane will continue her leadership of Academic Professional Practice, Clinical Operations, Quality, Patient Safety, Enterprise Risk Management and Operational Readiness as well as Information Technology (IT) and the organization’s Sustainability Program.
