Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Implements Medworxx Utilization Management System

Medworxx Inc. (“Medworxx”) (TSXV: MWX), provider of healthcare solutions for patient flow, compliance and education, is pleased to announce that Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has implemented the Medworxx Utilization Management System (UMS) across the organization.

Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre adopted the Medworxx UMS to help improve patient flow across their organization. The real time data and reporting drives decision-making, and supports their Gridlock policy, as well as Improvement Strategies around quality utilization management.

“Medworxx is a great communication tool”, said Cathy Covino, Director of Quality and Risk Management, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. “We can really improve flow for a patient because we are all working together, on the same page. The real-time availability of reports such as Readiness for Discharge by Physician and by Unit supports decision making and quality improvements.”

The Medworxx UMS delivers a patient-centric focus of daily assessments of every patient, and provides a series of criteria sets for different patient populations to determine their appropriateness of admission and each continued day of care. Medworxx further improves the patient flow in hospitals by quickly identifying barriers, delays, and interruptions to the plan of care for immediate resolution, as well as establishing a common framework for improved interdisciplinary communication.

“In the past the Utilization Review was often a retrospective review of the patient’s hospital stay. TBRHSC has moved to a Patient Family Centered Care Model. The Medworxx tool enables us to monitor real time, ongoing care needs and make changes to those care needs that are required for a safe ,successful discharge”, said from Karen Rybak, Manager Utilization, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

“We are pleased with the results that Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre has seen from their implementation of the Medworxx UMS”, said Dan Matlow, President & CEO, Medworxx. “Thunder Bay has been a long time customer of Medworxx, having also implemented our Learning Management System and Policy and Document Management System.”
