TELUS to provide healthcare organizations with a suite of cloud based collaboration services
TELUS CareShare Software-as-a-Service offering will create ecosystem for healthcare providers to share information to improve clinical efficiency
TORONTO, ON – TELUS Health Solutions today announced a partnership with Carefx to create a unique set of services for clinicians and providers to access through a private cloud. TELUS CareShare enables care providers to securely gather information from multiple sources and then share it across the continuum of care using their own electronic medical record system (EMR) or web-based health tools. CareShare will be available via subscription or per transaction basis.
“We are pleased to partner with Carefx to bring TELUS CareShare, a truly revolutionary suite of SaaS services, to healthcare organizations,” said Paul Lepage, senior vice-president, TELUS Health Solutions. “Carefx brings an extensive history of clinical systems development with world-class expertise in building tools for interoperability and clinical workflows. TELUS brings extensive communications experience, strong and mature capabilities in hosting and managing health infrastructures, and health information technology products that move data across the continuum of care from claims processing to hospital clinical information systems to consumer health.
“By leveraging TELUS’ extensive communications infrastructure we are able to offer our customers the ability to share information seamlessly and in near-real-time across devices and organizations,” said Andrew Hurd, Chairman and CEO of Carefx. “With cloud computing, managed services and licensed services healthcare providers will be able to focus less on IT management and more on coordinated, collaborative care and emerging models for medical home and accountable care.”
TELUS CareShare will give clinicians choice, allowing them to subscribe and pay for only the service or information they require for improved clinical management and patient services. Provider organizations benefit from not having to rip and replace costly systems to achieve health information sharing goals thus saving time and resources.
A portal or EMR interface, and one system interface into the cloud will give clinicians access to CareShare solutions used to support better patient care including:
- Results Distribution: enables the sharing of patient results amongst multiple providers
- eReferral: offers an ecosystem for use by primary care and specialist physicians to facilitate the sharing of electronic referrals and patient information
- Care Coordination and Remote Patient Monitoring: supports coordinated patient home care process and enables patients to stay in touch with their healthcare providers
TELUS CareShare’s primary value is real-time access to information federated from many sources such as:
- Pharmacy/Lab Systems
- Patients (through TELUS health space)
- Health Information Systems
- Electronic Medical Record Systems
- Jurisdictional Electronic Health Records
Benefits to clinicians/care providers include:
- Allowing the user to pay for only that service/information they require
- Improved patient care delivery through timely access to data and shared workflow driven by the clinicians
- No rip and replace of systems – federation of data from existing systems into services
- Anytime, anywhere access through the Internet on multiple device types – PC, iPhone, tablets, etc.
- Time and resource savings
The combined TELUS and Carefx solution is available in two ways:
- Managed Services: applications and data are managed by TELUS for those health delivery organizations that require customized workflows.
- Licensed Services: for organizations requiring customized functionality, infrastructure and application control.
