Northern Ontario continues to see high opioid death rates as Sudbury outlines new response

Several northern Ontario communities continue to see opioid death rates far above the provincial average, according to new data from the Ontario Coroner’s Office.
In an effort to address the issue, Public Health Sudbury and Districts will roll out a new community drug strategy.
Released Wednesday, it outlines several priorities for the year ahead, including improving referrals to care after overdoses, hospital stays and incarceration, mapping gaps in addiction services and reducing barriers that prevent people from accessing support.
