Kingston Health Sciences Centre names new executive team

From thewhig.com

The Kingston Health Sciences Centre has formed its executive team, with most of its members coming from Kingston General Hospital.

Six of the current KGH executive team and three from Hotel Dieu make up the team. Dr. David Pichora, the current CEO of Hotel Dieu, will become the CEO of the new Kingston Health Sciences Centre.

“I am very excited to work together with this talented group of individuals,” Pichora said in a news release. “This group will help lead us into a future where our Kingston Health Sciences Centre is seen as the leading complex-acute, specialty and ambulatory care, research and teaching hospital in our region and beyond.”

Coming with Pichora from Hotel Dieu will be Elizabeth Bardon, as the vice-president of missions and communications, and Mike McDonald, as executive vice-president of ambulatory services. From KGH, Silvie Crawford will become the executive vice-president and chief nursing executive; Troy Jones will be the executive vice-president and chief information officer; Brenda Carter will be regional vice-president cancer care and vice-president of performance and quality; Sandra Carlton will be vice-president and chief human resources officer for KHSC and Providence Care; J’Neene Coglan will be vice-president and chief financial officer; and Dr. Roger Deeley will be vice-president of research.

The current teams will dissolve at the end of March and the new team will take over April 1.

Those remaining from the current teams are KGH’s interim president and CEO Jim Flett and Dr. David Zelt, executive vice-president and chief of staff. Not on the new team from Hotel Dieu are: Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick, chief of medical and academic affairs and chief of staff; Scott MacInnes, chief human resources officer; and Janine Schweitzer, chief of quality management and organizational improvement.

Though not on the executive team, Steve Miller, current Hotel Dieu chief operating officer and chief financial officer, will serve as KHSC’s corporate development and transition lead for the next two years. Denise Cumming will serve as an ex-officio member of the team in her role as president and CEO of the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.

The role of chief of staff and vice-president of medical affairs for the integrated centre has not yet been filled. The process to fill that position should be completed in several weeks.

“This is an exciting time as our integrated Kingston Health Sciences Centre begins to transition from a vision to a reality,” Pichora said. “We will be working together as a team so that our new hospital can continue on with the proud legacies of Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General Hospital in providing the care on which our patients count.”
