Karen Glass, Executive Director for the Poverty Reduction Strategy
Karen has over 20 years of experience working in the provincial government. She is a strategic, results oriented leader with significant accomplishments in program delivery, policy development and execution, managing change and achieving results.
Karen is the newly appointed Executive Director for the Poverty Reduction Strategy. She comes from the Cabinet Office where she held two senior executive positions. As Director, Strategy and Results she has led research initiatives, results focused projects and capacity building initiatives within the policy community. And then as the Executive Coordinator, Justice, Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Affairs she supported ministries in developing policy, legislative and regulatory submissions.
One of Karen’s earlier leadership experiences was as the Director, Ontario Works where she led key aspects of the transformation from a passive social assistance system to an active participatory program focusing on employment outcomes. She has been responsible for the development and delivery of a wide range of public policy initiatives including the Ontario Child Benefit and the initial Poverty Reduction Strategy.
She has a solid track record as an innovative strategic thinker who leads teams to deliver results collaboratively and is passionate about social policy that achieves outcomes for Ontarians.
