Lisa Priest, Director, North East Toronto Health Link, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Lisa is the Director of the North East Toronto Health Link, coordinated by Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She also leads that Health Link’s patient engagement strategy and formed the Patients’ Advisory Council, which she co-chairs with a caregiver. Prior to that, she was a health reporter, columnist and editorial writer at The Globe and Mail. Her work on breast cancer detection and treatment twice won the Michener Award, Canada's top honour for public-service journalism. She is the author of three books, including Operating in the Dark: The Accountability Crisis in Canada's Health Care System. She is a fellow of Massey College, University of Toronto. She sits on the editorial advisory board of the Canadian Medical Association Journal. She believes a more engaged patient makes for a better healthcare system.
