Good Environmental Policy Leads to Good Public Health Policy: A Lesson from the Grassroots
Abstract
It is a sunny Sunday in September. On the first of the Thousand Islands, Wolfe Island, a family gathers around the table for fresh bass, still sizzling with butter. At the other end of Lake Ontario, hundreds of new Canadians flock to Bluffers Park in Scarborough for their own fishfry. Parents and grandparents chat over the charcoal barbeques, while cousins play at the nearby beach. Meanwhile, in the Rockies to the west, fathers and sons quietly cast lines in cold mountain waters, hoping for the first bite of the day.
