Abstract
Nothing since the national dream has captured the attention of Canadians like medicare. Over the last 40 years the concept of sharing collectively through the state the cost of disease and injury that would otherwise be borne by individuals, their families and those who would extend them charity has become a defining characteristic of what it means to be Canadian.
