Celebrating Leadership: TELUS - ITAC's 2008 Health Company of the Year - good business includes good philanthropy
The adjudicators took special note of TELUS's successful implementation of iScheduler and Call Centre Anywhere at CritiCall Ontario, a 24-hour-a-day emergency referral service for physicians across the province of Ontario.
According to Kris Bailey, executive director of CritiCall Ontario, the TELUS solution allows CritiCall to activate the entire circle of care anywhere and anytime, regardless of physician or patient location.
The company's approach to philanthropy is designed "to give where we live." Team members and retirees have contributed $113 million to charitable and not-for-profit organizations and volunteered more than 2.1 million hours of service to local communities since 2000. Nine Community Boards across Canada lead TELUS's local philanthropic initiatives.
ITAC Health is the healthcare division of the Information Technology Association of Canada.
