Today we provide popularity statistics for 14 Canadian healthcare information websites. The numbers are dismal. Including our own. Next week we will report websites for selected hospitals. This will provide you with some surprises but they too are depressing. Why is this important? Because these are powerful communication tools for both professional and consumer audiences. We don’t do enough to make them excellent reflections of the research and care we provide. And we don’t really use them to provide care support either. And if we are competing for world attention, we don’t compare well (statistically) with other healthcare websites and institutions in the developed world. More on this next week. Here are the popularity ratings for selected Canadian journals and institutes. This is not KT at its best. It’s our infamy.
